Time for a couple in love.
Every day they are a mum and a dad to kids they adore. But this session was just about them. And in one of my favourite places in Surrey, where the sun played fair and we wandered through the woods for a while.
It’s not every husband who gets to coordinate his wardrobe with his wife’s hair colour. And I loved it. Accidental coordination or not.
Quite often I let people know that they might feel a little silly having their photograph taken. But it’s all part of the plan. Not to make you look silly in their photographs, but to capture that moment just after awkward, where you laugh together, lean in to each other and really share a moment of emotion. I don’t think you can engineer that, but you can create an atmosphere where those moments are encouraged out into the open.
So that when you are relaxed, you’ve sighed with laughter and then relief, I can capture the very beautiful part of you that he sees every single day, but that you all too often doubt. You look beautiful Wendy, so gorgeous. And Ian knows it. I can’t see his face, but I can see the smile creeping across.
I’ve said it before, but it bears repeating – the most wonderful pictures are not about how you look in a picture, but how you look at the people in the picture with you.
You can give me that blue steel look if you like Ian. I know I’ve just got you to spread out on the heath. I accept that when the dog walkers saunter past, and the dogs pass perhaps too closely, things are a little awkward.
But then awkward passes. And you both laugh about it. And I LOVE that laughter.
If you’re in love and want to roll around in the heather with a photographer looming above you LIKE A PRO, you’re in the right place. LOVETWO portraits are all about spending a little time together and me giving those moments back to you in photographs that reveal exactly how you feel about each other.
Want to book a LOVETWO session? Great. Leave the kids at home (properly supervised, of course), or just come along and look at the glint in his eye that is your future child and let’s tell your love story together.
Laughter welcome. Rolling in heather optional.
