deborah & sylvie // milk #19

The setting was absolutely idyllic. Deborah’s home, tucked away in a beautiful part of the Hampshire countryside, is surrounded by woodland walks and trails. So with her two dogs for company, and her gorgeous baby girl Sylvie in a sling, we set off for a MILK portrait with a difference.

Deborah loves to be outside, is spoilt for choice by short adventures that start at the door, so she’s often feeding Sylvie whilst walking. Using the sling makes this so much easier for her, and I don’t think I’ve ever seen a more contented, or happy baby.

We didn’t have to wander far before I saw this little pocket of light, spilling through the leaves, and knew it was the perfect spot to photograph them both. Should I have favourites? Because I think this is one of mine from the series. Probably has something to do with the four-legged members of the family who snuck in to the frame, keeping a look out.

Deborah knight - The dogs usually know when it’s time for walkies and they start stretching and looking hopeful about an hour before schedule. Once the sling comes out, they go crazy bcs they know that’s the last thing that needs to happen before we head out the door. The annoying thing is when I pull the sling out at another time of day. the dogs look at me with surprised glee and start going nuts! I have to tell them not to get the wrong idea– we’ll go later-not now!

Thank you Kate for letting us take part in this project!
