It’s a busy time of year, there’s so much to do and too many to shop for but I’ve concocted a little plan which will help you gather up the pressies without any effort PLUS the kids get thoroughly entertained throughout.
If you’re looking for the perfect gift for proud grandparents, or a gift to give to daddy that will definitely make him smile, then I have just the thing for you. Relaxed, informal but gorgeous portraits are the perfect gift to give for Christmas. So if you’ve never enjoyed the experience of professional photography, here is a very special offer just for you.
I’m teaming up with the fabulous bunch at Gym Jams soft play at Normandy Village Hall, near Guildford to offer FREE mini photography sessions to anyone attending on WEDNESDAY 10TH NOVEMBER. It’s a brilliant way to experience my style of natural, unfussy portraiture in a setting that allows children to play, learn and explore. This is not your usual pre-school or nursery photography with bland backdrops or flash photography. Simple, beautiful portraits taken using just natural light and created through fun and play.
Gym Jams is a brilliant soft play centre for babies and toddlers. Every Wednesday and Friday they run 3 sessions (each lasting an hour and a half) from 9.30am to 2.30pm. Entry to the session is just £3 for under 1s and £4 for 1 and overs. The entry price includes squash and a biscuit. Trust me, they’ll need refreshment because there’s so much to explore and enjoy.
Here’s the plan:
- On WEDNESDAY 10TH NOVEMBER, I’ll be running mini photography sessions throughout the morning and afternoon at Gym Jams, designed to capture beautiful portraits of your child at play.

Each of my mini sessions will last approximately 15 minutes – they’ll be fun, relaxed and specifically arranged to not interfere with the other mums, dads and children enjoying Gym Jams. You won’t need to stop your child playing – in fact, I hope that they’ll carry on as usual and just enjoy their time spent with me. There won’t be a specific area set aside for photography – everything will take place in and around the soft play toys and climbing equipment.
- On Friday 12th November, I’ll send you log-in details to your own password protected online gallery, hosted on my site for 7 days. Each session will result in 2 - 3 portrait images for you to choose from. Gift prints start from just £15.

You can then order any images you would like and I will deliver them to Gym Jams for you to collect on December 1st, gift wrapped and ready for Christmas.
Simple, easy, fun and (best of all) there is no photography session fee to pay. So even if you’re not looking for Christmas presents for others, you can arrange a wonderful gift for yourself.
How do I take part?
As long as you are attending one of the 3 play sessions at Gym Jams you can put your name down for a mini session with me. Sessions will be strictly limited, so if you’d like to reserve you place just email me at kate@kategriffinphotography.com and let me know your name and which of the Gym Jam sessions you are attending.
What should my child wear?
Bright, colourful clothes are fantastic. Textured layers are great. But do try and avoid cartoon characters, writing or distracting patterns. These portraits will closely focus on your child’s face, so it is best to not put them in anything that will compete for attention in the image.
Do I need to pre-book my place at Gym Jams?
Yes, absolutely. Gym Jams is very popular, so if you’d like to take advantage of this special offer you should pre-book your Gym Jam place for each child. They fill up very quickly and often sell out on the day. I’d hate for you to turn up only to be disappointed. My full family sessions out on location make fabulous use of stunning natural locations. Because we have to be mindful of other children busy enjoying themselves and not having their photo taken, these sessions will instead concentrate on your child’s beautiful little face in an individual portrait. You can choose lovely lustre prints, or for even more impact a hand-stretched bespoke canvas ready to hang.
